The Publishing Group
Get printing and sharing with the Publishing Group — it’s a great way to learn more about printing by doing. And there is nothing quite like the joy and anticipation of receiving an envelope full of printed goodies through the post every other month.
How It Works
Members of the British Printing Society can also join the Publishing Group (PG). This is a small group of members who print regularly and enjoy sharing their endeavours with others. Every other month PG members receive a bundle of printed items through the post. Bundles usually consist of small single sheet ephemera (postcards, bookmarks, coasters etc) but occasionally include printed artist books and folded posters.
There is no vetting procedure to join the Publishing Group and no one should think they are not ‘good enough’ (or rather, we all think we are not good enough!). You don’t have to submit to every bundle but are expected to send in at least two items per year.
Why It’s Great
- The PG is a friendly supportive group and a great way to learn more about printing techniques.
- It’ll encourage you to print regularly. If you’re a new printer it’ll help you build confidence. If you’re more experienced it’ll give you a good excuse to experiment.
- The Publishing Group awards annual prizes for the best printing, voted for by PG members.
How to Join the PG
First you need to join the BPS. Then email the PG Chair who will guide you through the process of joining the PG. To find out more about Publishing Group membership, see the PG page in the Members section.
