About Our Branch

The South Wales Branch area extends from Pembrokeshire in the West to Chepstow in the east, and up to the southern part of Powys (Breconshire). We currently have 14 members and are trying to increase our membership by promoting the BPS alongside volunteering regularly to operate a Columbian Press at Risca Industrial Museum, near Newport. We are also sponsoring a print-related competition for students at a local college near Risca. We have recently revived our quarterly newsletter.

When and How We Meet

We usually meet monthly, either at members' homes or premises or on visits to venues such as printworks or museums. We endeavour to meet alternately in the eastern and western parts of our area. We also have an Annual Dinner every November.

What Happens at Meetings

We enjoy trying out other members' equipment and printing keepsakes and take the opportunity to discuss future visits and plans such as participation in the BPS Rosen Award. Rather than a formal approach, we adopt a friendly and relaxed one and encourage mutual advice and support when needed. Whilst most members are enthusiastic letterpress printers, we seek to extend our visits and membership base to other firms of printing.
