Dorset Branch

The Dorset Branch of the Society has been in existence for many years. In 1984, there was a major revamp of the branch with a new set of officers to run the branch. Over the next few years the branch became one of those groups who were actively holding meetings, which were of a practical nature. These meetings were held in the homes of its members, or their workshops. Almost every form of printing was demonstrated, all of which were practised by the members themselves, either as a hobby, or as a business. During the nineties, Dorset entered into a period of staging Open Days, on an annual basis. Their success then lead them to host the Society’s main event, the Annual Convention. This they have now done on four occasions, 1996, 1999 and 2002 and 2005.

Recently the Dorset Branch has seen its membership drop, due to members retiring, giving up printing as an occupation, or passing away. Although we are smaller in number, we still travel around the county during the year and where possible, still engage in practical meetings.
